Morristown Ice Hockey versus Morristown Beard 1/8/2000

In what many viewed as the worst refereed game in a very long time, Morristown Beard beat Morristown 5-2. There were a total of 70 penalty minutes, with 46 going to Morristown. There were penalties called on Morristown that apparently no one other than the ref saw. Since we have proven perfectly capable of losing games all by ourselves, it's pretty sad when the refs think they are supposed to participate in the outcome.

Beard outshot Morristown 40-13. At the end of the first period they were winning 3-0, but at the end of the second it was 3-2. It looked like Morristown had a chance of catching up when the referees took over the game and called 56 minutes of penalties. Of the 56 minutes, all but 10 were on Morristown, including a game misconduct on PJ Scriff and 10 minutes misconducts on PJ, Mike Flaherty and Dan Markowitz.

PJ Scriff scored the first goal, with an assist to Mike Flaherty. Steve Markowitz scored the second, a power play goal, with assists to PJ and Tom Dean.

Dan Markowitz recorded his 1000th high school league save in this game. A few more games like last nite (48 shots) and tonite (40 shots) and he may hit 2000 before he graduates.
